Yes, many (Half? Quarter? Two-thirds?) of these accounts are bots.
If they were actual hackers that had some actual hacking skill, it would be quite a sight to see (though probably not nice at all).

Actually... there are many who have been on TubeNet waaaaay longer than 18 March 2004.
