After a recent post I put on tubenet about Macs vs. PC's I saw that most people suggested a Mac. So I bought an eMac. I was wondering what sort of router you all suggest? Is there a special type I have to use to connect to both a mac and a PC at the same time?

I have Macs and PCs running off the same off-the-shelf router.
On a side note... I just bought 6 eMacs for my classroom for $20 each. Of course shipping was an additional $20 each. But I got six machines for under $250! They are all running SmartMusic and Finale Notepad as well as the Safari browser. The kids write duets for each other, practice scale exercises, research tune origins, and sometimes sneak and play stupid online games

I have three Windows PCs and a MacBook Pro, and non have a problem using the phone company provided DSL modem/router.
Buying an AirPort base is not necessary.

$40 a piece?? wow.. I paid $70 for my eMac.. it is pretty loaded as far as an eMac goes though. 1 GHz, 1 GB memory and 80 GB HD. OS 10.4
Thanks you guys! Most routers only put the compatability for windows OS's. So I was a bit confused

I bought a Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port. I heard that was a good brand...
And it only costed me about $20 new off of ebay!

According to the website, a switch does basically the same thing as a router-shares the internet connection.
I hope I didn't buy a $20 piece of junk! lol

Richard, please...the "edit" button is over there, in the top right corner...please use it!
Thanks!
Come to think of it...maybe this explains the "texting" behavior of younger folks...
