Prayers for our Puppy

Greetings all,

I am not one to generally ask something like this, but I feel the need in this case. We got a new 6 week old chocolate lab puppy yesterday, and during the night it was quite ill. We took her to the vet this morning, and they found she has Parvo virus. They are putting her in ICU, and have given her a 50% chance of survival. I know this may seem silly to some, but any and all prayers for her would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Tim

Not silly at all, Tim. Our animal family and friends deserve our love, care, and concern just as do our "human" family and friends. My thought are with you, and hope for your puppy's full recovery.

Tim,

We recently got our own puppy and by now he's probably 8-9 weeks old. Funny how we become so attached to the little fellas so quickly. Ours is a White Lab & Blue Heeler mix. Best of luck with yours and keep us posted...

Hello,

Our puppy has taken a turn for the worse. If you have the time the prayers are really needed now.

Greetings all,

Just an update. Sammy is still at the hospital and receiving an IV to keep her hydration and electrolytes up. She is very lethargic, but seems to be fighting this. The standard cycle for parvo is generally about 4 to 5 days at the worst part, and she has been in the worst of it for almost 4 days now, so we are hoping things start improving soon. We would love to have her home this weekend, but only time will tell.

Many thanks to all of you who have and are keeping her in your thoughts. She is not out of the woods yet, but having all this support is certainly helping her. I cannot thank you enough.....

Tim

Greetings,

I find I am at a loss for words, so please bear with me. The vet called about 3:45 today to tell us that Sammy had taken a turn for the worse, and that we might want to come over to see her. We just got back from sitting with her until they closed. She is very weak, and they don't expect her to make it through the night. If you have been praying, please pray that she passes peacefully, and ends up in a better place.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support. It has been incredibly hard to see someone so little struggle so hard. Words really can't describe how we feel.

Sincerely,

Tim and Andrea

Greetings all,

I am sad to say that Sammy did not make it through the night. It may seem strange to some that we only had her 6 days and yet grew so attached, but watching the struggle she put up, who could do anything else. I do thank all of you for your prayers and kind words. It speaks volumes for our community that we rally behind each other in times of need.

Sincerely,

Tim and Andrea

the elephant wrote:Well, you gave that little puppy a real chance that she might not have otherwise had by getting her proper medical care. And you emotionally "cared" about her too, which I am certain that she understood at some level. She was better off for having connected with the two of you because she was not fighting this alone; that was a great thing. You were able to help shoulder the weight of this burden with her.
This is well said, and exactly what I was thinking.
