Unimportant and off topic, but...
I thought nearly all of On the Waterfront was filmed in Hoboken, NJ. Was I mistaken???

Thanks, Wade...I was pretty sure the movie was filmed in Hoboken (one of the reasons Sinatra was originally going to play the part of Terry Malloy, not Brando), but did not know it was supposed to be Red Hook. I'll have to watch it again to find the reference you mentioned.
Now to add something constructive to the thread:
My girlfriend has some friends who live in the Prospect Park area of Brooklyn (I believe their neighborhood is just called Prospect, but I'm not sure, it's on the eastern side of the park, right by the BQE). Their neighborhood is very nice, and they have a beautiful (and huge!) loft-style apartment. The roof of their apartment is also an awesome place to watch July 4th fireworks, as you can see all 3 Macy's displays at once, as well as some in NJ and Staten Island. Brooklyn is one of the last places in NY that has a genuine "neighborhood-y" feel (Queens still does, too, but I'm not very familiar with Queens). If I were considering living in NYC, Brooklyn would probably be my first choice.
