Allergies Suck

Post by ASUTuba06 »

Allergies suck. I've had sneezing and a running nose for 2 weeks now. It's just the time of year.....

Woodwinds, Violas. :tuba:
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Mold is a biggy. Get youself buzzed up on pseudoephedrine or phenylephedrine and mellow on generic benadryl (diphenhydramine hydrochloride). One treats the symptoms, the other treats the cause. Take enough of them, and that should fix you.

I feel your pain...
actually getting sinus surgery and a straightening of my deviated septum later in June to help them drain better and help me breathe better through my nose.

What causes lip blisters? Blatting too much? Playing too long?
I'd really like to know.

Not allergies. It is a virus called "Herpes Simplex". There are some triggers, (chapped lips, sun, fever, too much playing, improper warmup), that cause me to be more susceptible at times but it's still the virus hiding in there that causes them. It hurts and it's no fun to scrape the residue of your lips off the mouthpiece, but you can still play. Folks get allergies so bad they can't play cause they can't breath.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

You're right. Al. It could be worse.
I know I need to grow up and play softly but given the choice of blatting or not blatting, I hold off until I can't stand it any more and then, and then...

I thought I had lip simplex but found that the funny sore spot went away when I changed to gold plating on my rim. I'll never to back to a non-gold rim. This was prolly close to 10 years ago I made the switch, and no problem since then.

Does anyone know if any of the current available allergy medications (OTC or script) help in dealing with pet allergies?? I am allergic to both cats and dogs, as well as suffering from seasonal allergies (for which I take Allegra). I have not had the opportunity to really see if the Allegra helps with the pet allergies, but I need to find out--my girlfriend wants a cat. I have told her of my allergies, but I don't think I'm winning this battle, so I need to find out if there's a way for us to own a cat and not feel miserable all day.

There is a natural product (i.e., not a drug) called D-hist that a friend of mine swears by. I haven't tried it myself.
