bass trombone excerpts

I was asked to audition for a local orchestra on bass trombone but I have never done any orchestral work on trombone (or tuba for that fact) so I was wondering if any of you could reccomend a few excerpts to look at and work up for the audition. My Cherry CD is on its way as is the new laser printer. If I don't have recordings then I'll get them (any reccomendations on those too).
Any other suggestions for prepping for the audition?
As always, thank you for the help and advice

In the meantime 'til your Cherry CD comes in...

I'm not an esspert at popular bass 'bone audition material, but I think the Ride would be a good place to start.
Whatever you play, good luck!

Mr. Yeo is the best bass trombonist out there (sorry, CV fans) and his website has a lot of helpful material. With each excerpt that he recommends (pdf files for many), he also gives his advice on how to prepare/play them in an audition.

He's very good, but seriously, whatever.

Excuse me for not prefacing my statement with "IMHO" or some equally silly, unnecessary conditional clause. People are free to disagree and listen to whoever they want, whenever they want.

By your signature alone, you are automatically disqualified from having an opinion. A violist..pfft!!

The last Bass trombone audition I did I had to play the following,
The Ride (the section with just the bones and the later section with the tuba)
Damnation of Faust (almost the same as the tuba part)
Hary Janos Suite (this is a harder one as it goes pretty high and has a few high trills)
A solo of my choice (I like the second mov. of the VW. Nice on the bass bone)
I hope this is helpful..

I've been trying to get on Mr. Yeo's website for the last couple of days and it seems to be down

. I've done a lot of reading there over the last few years and it was one of the first places I tried searching. . .I promise I did google before I asked

.
Definitely going to try to work up the Ride, but still need a couple more to prepare. I also have a friend's DMA dissertation in which he arranged and then performed a bunch of Brahms arias for bass trombone so I'll work up one or two of those for solo pieces.
Keep it comin!

As far as I know there will only be a bass trombone opening as my new tuba prof has the tuba chair, but I'll audition and play on whatever they'd like me to
