How big is my wardrobe? Big enough so the buttons don't pop off when I inhale.

I have a dozen identical white shirts in short sleeve and another dozen in long sleeve. All of these have English tab collars (for my bowties). I have a dozen identical black slacks. School days I get the next shirt and the next pair of slacks and the next bowtie in line. I spend zero seconds deciding what to wear each day. Most days I get dressed in the dark so as not to wake the wife and kids. On Sundays I choose a fancier bowtie and add a sport coat for church. Non formal gigs get a four in hand tie and black jacket. Of course, I also have a tux and full set of tails. I have a kilt and Prince Charlie jacket for pipes jobs. I, too, have two dozen identical black socks (every two are matches). I put my slacks and socks in one hamper and my undies and shirts in another. Every two weeks I do presorted laundry, spend about 30 minutes starching and ironing my shirts and I am good to go. I have vibram sole wingtips that I use for gigs and church. When I wear out my school wingtips, the gig shoes go to school and I replace the gig shoes.

For weekend and after school yard/house/auto work I have a couple of pairs of jeans and some shorts. I have a few camp shirts to work around the house in.

For band camp I have six pairs of black shorts and six embroidered band polos. I replace these every 7-10 years (I only wear them 1 day per year).

The goal of my wardrobe is daily simplicity and a professional appearance.

I don't know why so many people have something against used clothes. With my parent's financial status, I could go out and buy all the "new" and "cool" clothes, but I find an ENORMOUSLY more expansive selection at my local Goodwill.

-Old Navy-esque tops to wear for school and going out.
-Plain color t-shirts for around the dorm/home, or when the nice shirts are dirty
-4 pairs of blue jeans
-1 pair of tan jean like pants
-1 pair of dark tan corduroy pants
-Dress tan pants for afternoon recitals and brass choir performances
-2 pairs of shorts, one green and one purple plaid
-3 Hoodies, 2 of them zippered
-Concert black for performances
-Undergarments (6 pair of black socks)
-White tanks and undershirts
-3 pair black dress shoes
-1 pair tennis shoes
-1 pair sandals
-about 6 hats (assortment of styles)
-3 sets of McDonald's uniforms

For awhile, yes it was Target, and the occasional quick-run to Wal-Mart when I realized that I didn't have a certain shirt required for an event/performance. Just this week I've "upgraded" to actual Old Navy.

Kinda hard for me to spend my money on clothes because it doesn't matter too much to me, but I got a sweet deal there and they were all clearance items.

Not very flattering, those uniforms. Luckily, the black pants weren't too bad looking so I'll be wearing those for concert black.

Join the military. They dictate exactly what you wear to work every day, and it is actually very nice. I miss that bit of military life quite a bit when I am bleary-eyed and non-functioning in the early morning.

3 or 4 pr of shorts (bermuda'ish)

10-12 long sleeve dressshirts (a few white, the rest lots of color/strip choices)

at least a dozen ties.

4 or so wildly patterned short sleeve shirts, two bike jersies, several polo shirts

lots of T'shirts

4 sweatshirts that I wear a lot

couple pairs of nice wool slacks, charcol suit

workboots (for work), three pr black dress shoes, brown dress shoes, birkenstocks, running shoes

that's most of it. oh, wild assortment of mismatched socks, and lots of boxers (15 to 18 pr).

What? No lederhosen? I have one well-worn pair, plus two-piece socks and a nice, new Bavarian-style hat. Looking for buckled shoes.

For gigs, I have a tux, lots of white polo and dress (and pleated formal) shirts, lots of black and charcoal slacks, seasonal novelty ties, genuine black bow ties, and my military BDUs, blues, and greens for patriotic gigs.

For running, about 2 dozen running shorts, T-shirts, and socks.

Three or four dozen pairs of dress and casual socks, and the same quantity of underwear. Sometimes I get busy and the laundry can wait.

About 50 ties. Too many dress shirts, trousers, and shoes for my closets. Look out Goodwill.

A half dozen each jeans, cords, and shorts.

I, however, posess a vast collection of antique codpieces. My leather jerkin (as well as my wife's farthingale) is at the cleaner's.

Those are tools, not wardrobe.....

My wardrobe is way too big (In fact 2 wardrobes full so I am not going to even try to list!) and I have lost a couple stone in weight during the last year (change of diet), so a lot of the clothes no longer even fit me. I think time for a major clear out!

As I'm still loosing weight, I am currently only buying new clothes (to fit) as I actually need them. Some stuff I bought at the beginning of the year is already too big!

Maybe you shouldn't expect us to conform to your fantasies, Wade.
Boxers - no tighty whities are my replacement for a codpiece. I'm thinking comfort these days.
I may consider a steel liner for my tubenet thong.
As a retiree, I own work clothes, painting clothes and sailing gear.
Two pair of khaki long pants are for formal gigs and church.
Usually only wear socks in the winter but save the tan ones for formal gigs.
Cargo shorts for daily wear and three pair of Wrangler jeans are enough for our short winter.
I have so many Hawaiian flowerdy shirts since the family sees me gig in them and gets me them for presents.
I own long and short sleeve "Saints" jerseys for Sundays and the rare occasions when we lose a Monday night game.
A few ties and three sport coats are for weddings and funerals.
The moths ate my only blue pin stripe suit and I am not planning on replacing it.

Since I'm basically the same size I was in college, I still have stuff from almost that far back. T shirts in particular...I have one that I bought while at IU.

So stuff has to wear out before I throw it out, but especially T shirts I buy one if I like it. So I have quite a pile of those. I'm not hard on clothes but do get bored wearing the same stuff year in and year out, so they have accumulated over time.

I'm with Bloke on the thrift stores....I find more selection there than I find at regular stores. Go figure, but who cares? It's cheap and I can wash it before I wear it if I'm worried about it. Even shoes I can often find at thrift stores; my Vasque hiking boots I got at a thrift store, apparently brand new, for $7. Can't beat that.
