Using mic on PSP3000 for recording practice

The latest version of the PlayStation Portable (PSP), the PSP3000, has a built-in mic for use with the included Skype IP telephony. I was wondering, with all the "gamers" on board (read: geeks) if anyone has tried using this for recording a practice session. The main reasons (in my case) would be for timing, tuning, and phrasing, so a flat 20hz-20khz response and audition quality sound are unnecessary. If ultimately purchased, this would most likely wind up in my son's hands, with my ability to borrow it when necessary. Kinda like the red trombone.

I know nothing about the geeky side of this transaction but everything about the borrowing from son part. Better just buy you a recorder and agree to provide the play station based on being a good(ie. enabling) father. It's been my experience that in every joint venture - purchase- with my son, joint means I get to see it seldom, infrequently or never. Good luck! I'll try to check the mic input on my son's PS when and if I can.

One was handed to me at lunch today as an early birthday present. A very impressive little multimedia device, indeed. I have yet to locate a sound recorder for it, I am still in the exploratory stage (and still doing something called work.) Just upgraded the firmware, signed on to the online store and downloading a few free demos.
