In collaboration with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) and Berlin Philharmonic, the video-sharing website is creating a talent contest in which musicians are invited to send in clips of themselves performing.

Certainly worth a listen to Patrick Harrold's video if planning to participate, or not. Interesting to hear his expert approach!

Absolutely! That was very informative to me.
I'm kinda weired by the second video's requirements:
[One or two of the following]
Berlioz: Requiem, Op. 5: No. 7, #66 to #67; No. 9, #86 to End
Mahler: Symphony No. 2 in C Minor "Resurrection": Mvt. I, 6 before #2 to #2; Mvt. I, #20 to Tempo I
Wagner: Siegfried: #A to #D
The Mahler is a popular audition excerpt, but I have maybe seen the Wagner once and have never seen the Berlioz.
I wish I had more time to prepare these because I have none of these excerpts (I only see vocal scores for the Wagner and Berlioz, and the Mahler appears to be copyrighted in the USA)!
The Tan Dun piece looks like a lot of fun. A few difficult spots (high e's, double tonguing, blending w/ bass 'bone), but nothing terrible. I plan on auditioning!

Wow the last 30 seconds when he plays the Bach cello suite is ...um...very sweet.. (sorry I couldn't resist..) but boy I love the way he plays that on his Eb tuba!
Also another English aspect of the performance is the trumpet soloist's vibrato, very brass band cornet - like. Much faster vibrato than used here in the US. not a bad thing just a different style.

Patrick Harold did a recording of the V. Williams Tuba Concerto that I think is very good
