I opened it but knew for certain there wasn't such a list. What do I need to do?

If that's true, then I should be on the list. Doesn't everyone on TubeNet have a WORLD-CLASS SOUND??? I know that's the reason I come to TubeNet so often.BierGeek wrote: To get on the list? The first thing that comes to mind is the obvious:

Well, since you brought it up, why not?
1. Tommy Johnson (Because he could play anything, at anytime).
2. Arnold Jacobs (Because he could teach and play anything)
3. Gene Pokorny (Because he's the best)
4. John Fletcher (Star Wars - and Tommy Johnson always told me to listen to "the Fletch" recording of the VW)
5. William Bell (History pulls a lot of weight in brass legendology)
6. Roger Bobo (What other tubist got to know Johnny Carson?)
7. Jim Self (because he has always been second best to TJ)
8. Harvey Phillips (The essence of the tuba)
9. Abe Torchinsky (Holding the torch for all tubists, everywhere)
10. Sam Pilafian (Travelin' light always makes me smile!)
11. Daniel Perantoni (Daniel conquered the lion's den)
12. Chuck Daellenbach (He always sounded like two players at the same time - on those great recordings with the CB)
13. Alan Baer (Because Tommy always said he was the best, and he can design & fix horns)
14. Oystein Baadsvik (One word "Fnugg")
15. Don Butterfield (Because he put out an album with Clark Terry)
16. Howard Johnson (Because he makes such fantastic music, and his hotels make such fantastic brownies)
17. Carol Jantsch (She did what no other female has done in tuba history)
18. Nat McIntosh (Beatbox)
19. Doug Tornquist (Will be heard more and more everywhere until the end of this age)
20. YOU! (All of you youngsters have a chance to someday make this list if you persevere)

The giveaway was that you posted the thread here in the Off Topic discussion section instead of in the TubeNet discussion section.

Its the same list as the one for 20 Greatest Orchestras except it is a list of all of the orchestra's principal tuba players instead of the orchestras themselves right?

Re: Gramophone "20 Greatest Tubists" List..
I'm completely and totally shocked that my name did not appear on Dylan's list. How could this possibly have happened. I use all the right mouthpieces. I play the right tubas. I read TubeNet faithfully. I even use the new shorthand(i.e.: LOL & IIRC). I am at a loss to figure out why I would not be included. I even know the answer to: "lacquer? or silver?" Is there anyone on TubeNet who can explain why my name would not be on the list? Dylan, I am overwhelmingly offended that you have omitted my name. I ask that you reconsider, since my qualifications certainly merit it.

Was that the same issue as the 20 greatest bagpipers list?
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
