I will admit I'm not usually a fan of female jazz vocalists, but the lady singing with the Basie Orchestra on JazzSet on NPR (yes, I'm a pinko) this week absolutely made me stop whatever I was doing and stare at the radio a couple of times. Damn. The website says her name is Ledisi (no last name).

Eric "in awe of those with talent" L.

Check her out. Ghena Dimitrova. Best female opera voice i've EVER heard. Bar None. Gorgeous tone, and unrivaled power. Check out the first incantation of "So il Tuo Nome."
