bath towels - stupid post

Not a dumb topic at all, Joe. After 47 years of marriage we still lack a coordinated set of towels except for the guest bathroom.
The B,B and B near here is far from cheap but they got some great stuff.
We have some old towels I am about to relegate to my shop.
Gotta love old terry cloth for polish and cleanup.
Talk about "green", I rigged multiple and longer clotheslines (solar dryer) this week. Our electric dryer has made us lazy.
Sun dried clothes smell so good.

Some things I consider wear parts. Towels fall into that category. When they wear out, I replace them. The old ones become tuba rags, car rags, etc.

Good towels in my house would not reduce the amount of laundry. In fact, thick fluffy towels would probably cause more laundry. Here's why: Wash cloths are one use and done (down the chute). Bath towels have a maximum of 24 hrs. or 2 uses (which ever comes 1st). Bigger, fluffier towels mean less can get into the washing machine = more loads of laundry for me.

I am so glad I wasn/t drinking anything when I read this.

I forgot to put this in my post last night. If you want a household item that really makes a differnce I got one for you. For all of you guys that live where it gets cold, the product you want to buy is fleece sheets. Put these on your bed and you'll never feel the sting of cold sheets again. Worth every penny (and they're cheap too).

I don't ever crawl into a cold bed when I'm at home. Even though I'm 62 years old and should have gotten over my 'hippie' days long ago... I REFUSE to give up my full-motion king-size waterbed! It just feels soooooo guuuuuuuud!

Well, I use the Walmart towels. I sleep on the floor. It started as a result of falling asleep playing video games; the body started liking it; and it has continued. It also helps make me mean. Maybe someday I can be like Elephant. A 100 lb. dog makes excellent warmth when needed -- something any member of the English gentry would offer house guests in ye olden days (for real). The 67 lb. dog makes a good teddy dog and a comfort for the wife after her car gets stolen.

And you KNOW who will have that sucker cranked up to max heat, don't you. I have always stated in the most "PC" fashion possible that my wife is "Thermally Challenged".

That's why the fleece sheets are the best. No electricity and not thermostat to argue over.

On the subject of towels...
My wife's aunt in South Georgia (3.5 hours south of those Yankees in Hotlanta) has 13 decorative towels in her bathroom, layered on several towel racks. None of them are for actual use. (Found this out the hard way early on.) There are a handful of real towels and washcloths in the cabinet under the sink. Somehow, this seems like something you would hear about during the opening of a bad sermon...

I feel your pain on the decorative hand towells. my mother has sets of decorative ones for every holiday season.

I decided after my last "big fluffy towel" purchase at Costco that some makers lie about the fiber content. These big, fluffy towels didn't absorb water, even though they claimed to be 100% cotton. Nope, what they did was move the water all around like they were made of plastic. They went to the Salvation Army, and I went back to using my older, less fluffy ones that at least absorb the water.

I like a better quality towel yet will only use cheap washclothes (drives my wife nuts). I can't stand to climb into a warm bed. I like the crisp feel of "cold" sheets and a warm spouse next to me. Fortunately, I provide enough warmth to prevent my boss from turning the thermostat above 63 at night. I do, when I'm feel generous, shut off the ceiling fan OR close the window for her though.
