Shipping 80 boxes of music from Dallas to CT?

Post by BVD Press »

Dear All,

I am hoping someone might have a suggestion for me:

I am attempting to ship about 80 12x12x18 boxes of sheet music from the Dallas area to Connecticut.

I have looked into aplane flight down, rent a truck and drive back. Drive down and back (that would be a long 6-7 days). Have someone move it for me. Ship via USPS.

I am just looking for some more options. If anyone has any experiences in shipping that would be wonderful!

Thanks,

Bryan, here's my suggestion:

Talk to a truck freight company like Yellow. Strap the boxes to pallets. If you want to save money, you can ship depot-to-depot, but you'll have to get them to and from the depot yourself.

I tried Pods and it came out to almost $4000, but will check into ABF.

Amtrack might be an option. I will check into it.

I have 2 LTL quotes. So far this by far the cheapest! Still a big cost, but the cheapest!

I guess I won't consider Consolidated Freight!

Thanks for all the info. I am open to anything at this point.

I agree about using a freight company. But, I have a question. Did you buy Cimarron's inventory?

I am not sure I can give a 100% yes as of right now, but I (we) are in the final stages of negotiations.

There will be an annoucement shortly, but I did not want to say anything until everything was completed.
