If I set an event time for a date after daylight savings changes it will advance it by one hour. For example if the time of a gig is 2pm on June 8th and that is the way I input it the program automatically puts it on the calendar as 3 pm. It also does this when you set recurring weekly events. It is driving me crazy and I can't find a way to stop it from doing this.

What version do you have - 2004 or 2008? Be sure to download and install all Microsoft updates. There is a slew of service packs / patches / updates for the 2004 version. Fortunately, the upgrade process is simple enough. The Microsoft updates are separate from the Apple updates. I don't have a Mac in front of me right now (they are two floors below) but I believe all you need to do is click Help from within a Microsoft program, and then click Check for Updates. You can set it up so that it automatically checks for updates every two weeks.

Since the gub'ment majorly screwed up daylight savings time, all operating systems and date dependant applications needed to be patched. Microsoft may have never issued a DST patch for 2001, from their site

They usually try to drop support as soon as they can possibly get away with. Try repeatedly running the Microsoft updates from within that Office app (if 2001 even has that feature; I did not do Macs back then); there are usually several "layers" of patches that need application.
You could probably find Office 2004 on da 'bay for only a few bucks; 2008 is much better especially on the newer Intel Macs.
I remember spending a LOT of time on our Exchange servers, and having to run jobs that went into everyone's calendar bumping things an hour this way and that, to prevent appointments from hanging over an extra day. Everything else was pretty much patches and service packs, although the few Win 2000 servers we had needed to have some manual changes made. Some of the "smartphones" never behaved themselves despite patches and still acted up. Fortunately, most of that nonsense is now two years behind us...

I really enjoy jerking the IP phone system around 4 times a year due to the DST changes - it still wants to flip at the wrong times and is no longer supported with patches.

One thing I never understood: People who own Macs often do so out of hatred for Bill & Co. So, why do they almost always install MICROSOFT office on them????
