I read complete posts, and enjoy the thought-provoking posts here. I especially enjoy the posts that make a point I disagree with, because those engage me to think about why I think the way I do about a particular issue/thing/point. I find that I learn much more from posters who make a point that I disagree with and from the dialogue that ensues.
I don't much care for the very fragile egos of some of the posters here. Disagreement does not equal "I hate you as a person."

I read things that are worth reading.
Most of the time it's BS and people arguing: so no.

I really enjoy the time I spend looking at tubenet. I try to read most posts.
most being the key word. I read posts that keep my intrest and are relative to the OP. I only gloss over posts that are extrordinarily long-winded or pointless. But usually I find that we keep it pretty clean onn here (usuall)

Yeah. Easy for you to say. Everyone already hates
you.
I don't hate him...
I disagree with some points he has to make, but he's still a tuba player, so ya can't really hate them. Well, unless one steals a girl from you (you know who you are)

I read from the start, but each time I get a new update message for the "Update" thread it takes me 25 minutes before I can read the latest one.
I mean, what if I missed the one funny thing that Wade posts this year? Then I gotta wait another year!

Mike, you're in luck -- it's all recorded (in glorious 1s and 0s) for "posteriority"!

If you had read the complete thread about who posts rarely but reads regularly on this site then you would have read that I never post on TubeNet. The truth is that I post under the moniker "the elephant 2" now.
I was very sad when you announced that you were leaving...

Read what?

Very much depends. If it is subject in which I am interested, then I will read fully and often much enjoy. Others (such as this thread) which are collecting information I will just scan before posting.
When a thread gets silly (name calling, etc.), then I tend to unsubscribe and ignore further posts.

Actually, I have been told I play with a distinctive British brass band sound even on a Germany rotary valve tuba!

It's always a good idea to read everything that the posters write so you don't seem so stupid and repeat what someone else wrote. The problem is that some posters are just so garullous that they write more than they have to and they waste your time by writing so much. As one of my graduate school professors said, "If you can't say something simple, don't say it at all. No one will ever pay attention." In my half century of existence on this planet, i concur with everything that educator said.

So that "non-western music" they were always goin' on about back in kollij was actually country? Dang ... that makes it easier -- thanks! Gotta get down to Branson some time and catch one-a-them Balinese gamelan orchestra things ... "them're good!"
