Nope, Memphis didn't make the women's dance. My men's bracket shows Memphis as the #2 seed and Utah as #5. Don't know which bracket the "bloke" is looking at. Wouldn't surprise me if he didn't misspeak on purpose just to jerk someone's chain. Surely not bloke.
A more interesting question would be, "Are we going to see the famous CC Helicon at the Forum 3/27,28 and 29?" I understand it makes occaisional appearances there.

I don't follow basketball as a general rule unless I'm playing for it, but I just heard that Memphis is going to be playing CSU Northridge. In this case, GO MEMPHIS.
Careful, though..the refs tend to favor them unfairly and give them calls that even someone with no basketball experience (me) can tell are wrong.

It's ok...Memphis won. All is right with the world. Well...that microchasm.
Ironic, isn't it? Northridge lost to the Tigers (look at the Big West Championship...)

There have been several Sousaphone Incidents in tournament games this year:

1:55: Collins hits a great step-back, but Woodside responds by converting a layup while being shoved into the sousaphone section of the band by a KU defender. Fantastic play, and he'll have a chance to get NDSU within 3 coming out of this TV timeout.

Second, as the UCLA band walked across the court to their seats, the tuba player took a fall, her instrument landing with a crash. The musician, the tuba and the hardwood floor appeared to emerge with no major damage.

4. One of the tuba players for the Rutgers pep band is loud. And no, it’s not when he plays his instrument. During free throws, and, well, whenever he wants, this guy screams at the top of his lungs, cheering for his beloved Scarlet Knights. This guy takes participation to the next level. It’s amazing that he has enough breath left to play his instrument.
and a college hockey playoff

With a little under six minutes to play, a member of the Princeton band dropped his tuba, and as the metal instrument clamored down the aisles, momentum seemed to shift.

The "selection committee" by a landslide. I am normally at their throat by now but wow, all the 1,2,3 seeds in the sweet 16 and 2 of the 4's. I wish I had just followed the seeds when I filled out my bracket. I wouldn't be already out of the money.

OK, I went to grad school at Mizzou. The history of Mizzou coming to floor in March only to exit after the first dance is quite embarrasing over the decades. So this year was a great year for Mizzou. Had Memphis been as good as their seeding, then 1) Mizzou would never have gotten ahead by 24 at one point; and 2) Memphis would have come back and won.
U Conn will beat Mizzou. The only question is whether Mizzou will come to play, so there is only @ a 10-point spread like the Memphis game, or if Mizzou will lose their heads like they did in the middle of the 2nd half and get trounced by U Conn by @ 30.

Poor Memphus. Dreams of a national championship are long gone. Now so is the coach. Has the city now lost all hope? Memphus, hopeless. Where have I heard that before?

I was ribbing you a bit, but seriously I think he will go. I think he'll be sorry he went, just like most everyone since Adolph Rupp, but he'll go. KU has a way of making impossible not to go. Just like Alabama on the football side, they'll do whatever it takes to get the next legend. And like Alabama, maybe worse, the natives get restless very quickly.

Joe, You are being far too benevolent to the folks in Lexington. As reported on ESPN early this morning, "The Kentucky faithful expect a sweet 16 every year and a final four every 3 or 4 years. A national title every 5 years or so is also part of the deal". Supposedly this was quoted from some high up alumni. The 2 UK guys I know are absolutely on another planet when it comes to expectations. Not at all real world. I wish Calipari would dump 'em, I really do. I understand that Memphis has matched the UK offer. And now for the rest of the story.........They also said that UK's plan B might be a UK alum, UofA's John Pelfrey. I would hate to see him leave Arkansas, but the truth is he stepped into a maloderous pile when he took the job, and he has made no bones about his desire to eventually get back to UK. He played for Pitino, has Pitino's support, which carries a lot of weight in Lexington. So I'm really torn between my desire for Calipari to stay at Memphis, throwing a bit of salt in UK's wound, and wanting him to take the UK job so they don't offer it to Pelfrey.
