The Horror, the horror............

I am applying for a job and just got done mixing my DVD highlights of recent concerts. To my mortal shame, there is a spot during the 2nd section of "Les Preludes" in which I give the hand to the low brass ". And the horror of it is that they deserved it and did what I asked. Where have I gone wrong. I have forsaken my roots. I ACTUALLY GAVE THE HAND TO THE LOW BRASS. The shame...............................the agony..........................the horror

Chuck, it could have been far worse -- at least you gave them the *entire* hand ...

Chuck,

What's the problem? You gave them the thrill of a lifetime... "he said we were playing TOO loud... "

I didn't feel that I'd arrived until I got the hand from the Music Director... as a CUE! :D

When you give the hand to a bass trombone player, you are saying "Blow my fingers off!"

I do it, somtimes. It's turned into more of a compliment for me and my friends in band. It's just when you know you've pushed it enough. I am always alot more willing to give a bit less rather than being asked for more.

That's great. When we hosted ITEC 2002, and had students picking up guest artists at the airport, we considered making sets of tuba/euphonium trading cards so that they would know who they were looking for.........

Back to the original--Chuck--I'm tellling Jamie Hafner on you!

Thanks alot Dennis. I guess he REALLY will never talk to me again.

Not quite as many as you and what I own are quite dusty and begging to be used. Oh yeah, Joe, she was the LOUDEST harp player in the Western Hemisphere. If it means anything, she got the hand alot sooner than the low brass. No problem hearing her in the opening that's for sure.

Personally, as a player, I'd consider that validation.
