Blockbuster movies that didn't suck....

To follow up on blokes movie thread. Sometimes the blockbusters are pretty good flicks.

I liked the Spiderman series, classic good guy/bad guy, tormented hero schtick; same for the lastest batman movie.

My favorite all time movie was Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade rates a close 2nd. Probably actually like that one better, but the first is hard to beat, just when you think it is settling down, BAM something else happens, good fun!

And maybe because it was a big part of my youth but I love the whole Star Wars franchise.

Die Hard. I honestly don't know why they bother making other action films, when the genre was perfected with this one. While I do enjoy all of them (including the new one they made last year), nothing beats the original, with Alan Rickman as a wonderful villian. Is it high art? No, but the action is good, and the dialogue is entertaining.

Steven Spielberg makes a lot of blockbuster movies that actually turn out to be worthwhile. (Of course, he also drops his share of flops)

E.T.
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Saving Private Ryan
Schindler's List
Jaws
etc...

the only comic book superhero movie I've liked is "Iron Man". I'm not really into the genre in either form, but this was good.
