For those of you who watched American Idol tonight...I just wanted to get your impression of Kris. I'll give mine later. Now, you can probably guess what it is since we both call Conway our home town and both go to UCA and the same church...lol

I think he's great because my wife won a couple of hundred on him in the office pool!

Hahaha! Not quite what I was going for...but congrats on the cash!

Well, I don't want to sound sappy but I guess I can't put it any other way. Kris has been a big inspiration the past few months. I mean, in Arkansas, we really don't have much to look to as far as music here in the state (well, Johnny Cash, but he hasn't a much of a career since I've been alive...plus he's dead...lol). I'm trying to be a tuba studio professor since I didn't think I could make a career out of playing/singing...well, that's all changed. I mean, there really isn't an "American Idol" equivalent for tuba other than competitions but they don't get much coverage outside of the tuba world. However, Kris...a guy from my hometown, school, church and a guy that's pretty much like me in terms of attitude (i.e...calm, chill, doesn't really care about trying to be like someone else...he does what he does and I do what I do)...that guy has MADE IT! His life has changed forever and he's from my school. I know I suck at really conveying things the way I want to but it's just so inspiring. I'm not saying I'm gonna pack all my stuff up and try to make it in a big city or anything...it's just that my outlook on that possibility has changed after last night.

I would say a sincere congratulations.

That being said....Adam Lambert had the most talent that show will probably EVER see. You would be hard pressed to find someone who was ever on that show with more chops. It became very obvious before the finale that his fan base was little girls. LOTS of little girls.....

Is that because about the time they start dating they become a bit more aware and less clueless? Interestingly enough, if you look at the recent history, the runner ups have come out of the gate quicker than the winners. Maybe the fact that they don't have the idol deal around their neck makes it easier to cut their own deal. Especially someone with chops like Adam. Watch him soar. I'll bet he will have his first album out before Kris, and it will go gold in a month. However, he would not make my dinner list. Kris on the other hand seems to be my kind of people. The reason my wife picked him out of the gate was because he was from Arkansas, as we are. If Arkituba should yell "Wreck Tech" I would have to respond appropriately.

No offense, but what does that have to do with a talent competition? I think that's the big flaw with the whole concept of American Idol....they leave it up to the masses who wins. The problem is that people start voting for one over the other because maybe one is better looking, or they're from a certain place, etc. I could care less where one is from....he/she could be from BFE, but if they have the superior skills they should win. Adam has, IMHO, the better shot at a successful career since his voice skills could fit in a wider selection of genres. Kris, on the other hand, seems to be destined for the pop stations. There is nothing wrong with that, but pop songs tend to be from one year to the next. Case in point: Last year the radio played practically non-stop "Viva la Vida" by Coldplay. Now, you MIGHT hear it a handful of times a month compared to a handful of times a day.

Please take no offense to my opinion as I am not on the defense. I am simply stating my opinion and my logic behind said opinion.

I disagree that Adam Lambert possesses MORE talent than Kris. I think they are equal in terms of talent...they just have different skills is all. Adam can do the heck out of some rock, and R&B, but music is much more than just rock and R&B. Kris can do pretty much any genre and sound good if he sticks to doing "him". I'm not saying this with a biased perspective either. I normaly HATE American Idol but since a guy from my school was on it I had to watch. I started out thinking that everyone here in Conway was voting on him since he was from Conway, but after actually hearing him singing I realized that he was AMAZING and he deserved every vote he got. Kris isn't a "pop" guy...yeah, that's what he does best but he can do anything. You guys just don't know him well enough. He writes his own music and already has a cd that came out in 2007 and it's pretty darn good. Just give him a while and he'll blow you away. Like I said before, I had to be convinced that he was that good and I was convinced after 1 show (and I'm not easy to win over with pop musicians). I'm just tired of hearing all the Kris haters. Not that you "hate" Kris...you're jst writing him off when he possesses a TON of talent (more than most of us will ever have). Just my two cents...

I thought Adam has much more talent than Kris, but I'm actually glad Adam didn't win. Now, all he has to do is the tour, then he's free to write his own ticket. It's gotten to the point that the non-winners have a better chance of making it big than the winners do. Other than Kelly Clarkson and that other chick who's the country singer whose name escapes me at the moment, where are all the winners?
