So What Was for Lunch?

TODAY:The Friday noon special at the Silver Moon dive was the Chicken & Ribs
booffet, Darn good for six bucks. Yep, they ain't as great as anything south of here resembling BBQ. But, then again, most everywhere is south of here.. These are a special Norwegian style of concoction of Ribs. Kinda baked, kinda roasted, never seen the top side of a grill, and surely not enough sauce to come close to qualify as BBq. But some how they are tender and blandfully tasty, put together by a bunch of Nowegian cooks. Served with a variety of scalloped potatoes and corn.

Although the Silver Moon does remind me of few fine southern "rural road side" BBQ establishments. Minus of course, the fantastic cole slaws, beans to die for, corn bread, or corn on the cob. I mean no disrespect, but the Silver Moon has more cars out back in the trees than are parked out front of the building. The toddlers playpen, kids play arera and the dining guest smoke area are all located on the bar's dance floor.

The hometown conversation looms hot and heavy, regarding the weather, whether or not Ole and Oscar are getting their crops in, being its' been so wet, ya know. An den deir's dat new gurl Sally, in town. Whom all the youngs boys are trying to figure out. The Lutern church gossip, and of course, next week special at the Moon.

And did ya k-now, day vill serve a lemon slice wid your vater at the Silver Moon. Now dats' pretty up town, dont you tink.

Had one of those "survey" receipts for Burger King. Got a free whopper with the purchase of fries and drink (orange soda, but tasted like it had too much sodium in it).
Then made a quick trip to Goodwill and picked up two pairs of dress pants for work for under 12 bucks.

Protein shake. 44 grams of whey protein, one banana, some real peanut butter, raw oatmeal (non-instant), chocolate syrup (very little, Trader Joe's brand, yum yum, no HFCS), ice, local 2% milk.

Good stuff. Especially after a couple of hours in the gym after taking this new brand of creatine (naNO Vapor).

I wish I could have washed it down with this:

Lunch was nothing special, but for dinner I had fried calimari with a spicy aioli, baby greens, grape tomatoes and roasted red peppers and three small crabcake sandwiches with remoulade and my wife had the French onion soup and the Kobe beef burger (rare).

Leftovers - home made corn tortilla stuffed with mashed blue potato, cheddar cheese and green onions, and finished on the grill. Whatever makes blue potatoes blue, is sensitive to pH, and what was a uniform blue had overnight turned almost magenta in places.

Black forest ham and swiss cheese on whole wheat with Duke's Mayonaise ( the only mayonaise I ever eat since I tried it the first time).

I went to one of the few local "authentic" pizza joints in Nashville (ie not a chain, and run by people who know what real pizza tastes like.) I ordered one slice of cheese, one slice of pepperroni, and a drink to go. Their prices are a little high, but the food is so good I figured what-the-heck, even though I spent over 6 bucks on lunch it would be worth it. Imagine my surprise when I get back to work and opened up the box, and I have three pieces instead of two! :D

"Bottomless Ice T" means the refills of iced tea are free. The Filipinos love to abbreviate things.

The tea is really made of Lipton Instant Tea (with sugar and lemon), Nescafe, and homemade lemonade. It will keep you up for days!
