This may come as a strange question, but I am making a picture DVD for the funeral of a family member and need suggestions of what music would go well with it. I have not ever really given a lot of thought to the topic, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

The intermezzo from Pietro Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana" would fit this very well, I think. Another would be the Samuel Barber "Adagio for Strings". These are two very popular pieces that you should have no trouble finding if you don't already have them.

Ashokan Farewell by Jay Ungar and I believe arranged for orchestra by Calvin Custer (correct me if I am incorrect) is one of the most beautiful (and appropriate for this) pieces I have ever heard. It might be difficult to locate a recording of this, but if you can I would suggest using it.

... Ooo, I just found a good Youtube recording of it.
