Just picked up a Michelob Wheat beer sampler. I have been enjoying wheat beers this summer (Sam Adams SummerWeisse and Franziskaner Weissbeir) so I thought I would give it a try. There are four varieties in the sampler case:

Shock Top (my favorite!) a very tasty unfiltered Belgian style wheat ale brewed with orange, lemon and lime peels and corriander. Excellent! very refreshing but yet complex enough to keep your interest for the entire bottle!

Hop Hound, a medium amber American Style Wheat ale, a little heavier, but not too heavy, very good

Dunkelweisse a German Dark Wheat ale, a more complex dark ale, also unfiltered

Honey Wheat. Did not care for this one, too sweet. you really taste the honey, so if you like sweet beer this one is for you.

not much a fan of the wheat beers, but I'm glad you enjoy'd them.

Here as the summer turns hot and humid, I'm finding myself quenching the heat with Anheuser-Busch products as well. Yes, even with my affinity for English pale ales, sometimes it's just so hot a good effervescent ice-cold lager is the only choice. I've been enjoying three in turn: original Michelob, which is so smooth when it's absolutely fresh, Mich Ultra, which goes great with a meal, and, of all things, as a session beer, Busch light, which has just a bit more edge without the sometimes-can-be-overbearing-sweetness of regular Busch.

But, in spite of the marketing, I just can't get into Bud Light or any of its derivatives, even the new flavored derivatives. They're just too, well, something, just not a taste I can get used to, and if one of them gets even five degrees too warm, turns into pondwater.

A lot of guys are going to the new Bud Select. But for me, A-B has succeeded in brewing a beer with absolutely no taste. It doesn't taste bad. It doesn't taste good. To me, it just simply does not taste at all.

Remember the first ad campaign all those years ago for Busch Light? In case you've forgotten, here's the TubeNet version: playing Bordogni, or Bydlo, Vaughn-Williams, or a number of other etudes, excerpts or pieces is hard. Busch light is easy.
