Because a tuba player would have to consult with other tuba players to make sure that he was using the right size/brand/finish log and that their technique was acceptable to the "flavor-of-the-day" norm. By that time the bear would have eaten the kids, car, father, and the pots and pans.

Yup, this is true. And besides, don't most tuba players flush their logs down the toilet?
