Everything I know about the news, I learn from John Stewart

Oh c'mon. Give Stephen Colbert a little credit too.

This is one of the reasons for it going that way.

I only use the big stations to introduce me to whatever issue. After that, I usually use Wikipedia to fill me in on the rest. My local news is laughable and I stopped watching it all together when the jokes-cracking weatherman left (he was the only real reason I was tuning in).

But if you are forewarned and forearmed, are you half an octopus?

(from Pogo, loosely quoted)

You could be one of the "four armed men who held up a liquor store yesterday"...

One of the last places I'd go to learn "the truth"

Or
We created OR SAVED one million jobs!
If I didn't play the tuba, one million more people would have died of swine flu. <-- Prove I'm wrong.

That's impossible to prove. For all we know, at one point, you may have been practicing when otherwise you would have been in a situation where you could become a carrier for the flu and eventually transferred it to other people (in an enclosed arena or something, it might (not that i'm an expert on the flu) have been able to spread to others

Welcome to the age of "spin"... (and that includes things called "no spin"... )

I don't limit it to that group of people. I view anyone with a large salary as lucky. When I'm working, I'll do a lot of things that I absolutely hate in order to get paid (certainly nothing approaching the definition of "large salary"). I go to work to get paychecks - not to have fun, be myself, or enjoy the experience. In my free time, I do those things exclusively.

A job is just a job, so why not collect as much dough as you can?

Again, if people will pay me to do something that I can do well with mimimum effort, wouldn't I be crazy to stop them? Whether they're crazy for paying me isn't the question.

Are you as bummed as me that KOTH was cancelled? In a typical week (i.e. one with school) I don't watch too much TV, but that was a show I never passed up.
