Not only were his facts way off, but I thought he was going to have triplets playing a saxophone (a triple disappointment!)

Ha!

This is exactly the kid I was referring to in my thread about degree fraud:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=35247

This video is funny and sad at the same time. What's important, though, is THIS KID HAS NO MUSIC DEGREE. He lied. I forwarded this video along with a short explanation of how I found it to the Director of Jazz Studies at UNC Wilmington (where the kid claims the degree). I did so in the hope that someone at UNC could convince the kid to pull the video. The professor replied "He has a degree from UNC, but not in music." You can clearly see in the kid's bio that he claims a degree in jazz studies from UNC Wilmington!!

I hope this video gets pulled quickly. The humor is not worth all the damage to the reputation of UNC and the possibility of some kid seeing it and taking it for truth!

I actually went to the band's website to see if someone this stupid could actually play. I didn't stay to listen to all of the samples because I was suddenly afraid I had punched the wrong button and had to get off before I passed my floor.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

Ah, it's "a type of saxophone rhythm used by advanced players". That must explain it...

there is another video on ehow where the guy is demonstrating trumpet stuff and he is way of. He plays a d minor sclae after calling it a d minor chord and then plays B natural and C# going up and down.

also he talkes about hitting high notes and it is all he can do to get a high D.

I sometimes look to YouTube to expand my bass chops. There are videos of guys out there like Victor Wooten doing their thing, and it is just amazing. Sometimes you also come across that little known middle school music teacher who knows how to lay down a line or two, and is equally informative. Then there are some of the other videos.

You guys shouldn't get bent outta shape...it's a "fake" video. This is the same guy (I believe...at least he looks the same) that posted a "how to" snare drum video. It's meant to be bad...so laugh!

The problem with music education today is very simple:

NOT ENOUGH COW BELL!

That's fine. He shouldn't associate himself with any school or program then. If he wants to make up a degree, he can use a fake school name as well.
