Every edition of the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary has a grammar and punctuation section. I've even had to show the secretaries at work various points at various times to correct them. I am not too proud to refer to it as necessary, keeping it at my left hand on my desk at home.
And also remember: the paragraph is the basic unit of English composition. Yes, I am still a fan of Strunk & White. Are there any other fans out there besides me?
I'll go even further: if the principles of directness and conciseness were followed universally, there would be no need for much of the manufactured abbreviations commonly used in cyberspace.
