I'm having a hard time reconciling this one in my little brain...
Isn't Custom Music in Ferndale? Around 10 miles north of the Detroit/Windsor border? Shouldn't you have just stayed on I-75 at the border crossing area and headed toward Flint another 10 miles? Why would you exit the interstate there? Did you not know it's exit 60?
Next time use Yahoo Maps and get the exit number you need and look for it on the big green signs. Much easier than relying on a little box. If GPS frequently detours people from INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS to local streets to avoid construction, you can have it. There's no way in Hades it's ever faster in a major city to LEAVE THE INTERSTATE because of construction. Traffic engineers make sure they leave enough lanes open to make sure of that.
ASIDE: Here's a good trivia question (that I imagine James knows the answer to now): What direction to you go from Detroit to get to Canada?

You don't need to consult the paper map while driving...just get the exit # you need to get off the interstate. The city streets part is usually very easy. In this case, you would have never exited near the border if you had just stayed on I-75 until exit 60.

Interesting week in Detroit.
First a terrorist attempt to blow up his underpants while flying into Detroit is foiled. Then the clandestine operation to remotely take control of James's GPS while he is driving to Detroit and instead send him to Canada is foiled when Canada immediately tosses him back.
You can't slip just anything past them there Canadians.
BTW James, you know what they say:
Once you go Canadian - you can't go back!

Relying solely on a GPS in a major city isn't the best idea. I agree with the "follow the big green signs" method. I drove from DC to LA by that method, didn't get lost once!
But again, a GPS is a good tool to have... if nothing else, for "Where the hell am I?"

I liked the little handheld computers we had when I was doing census work...those were GENERALLY correct, and if it wasn't, you made it correct!
