I'm Confused

Reading the local paper this morning(yes, an actual paper that I had IN MY HANDS), I noticed that Yoga has become a competitive sport as is evidenced by a local woman winning the International Women's Championship at the 2010 Yoga Asana Championships held in LA this past February.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought yoga was an intropsective discipline allowing one to become one with ones body and mind. Isn't a Yoga Competition an oxymoron? What next? Full contact meditiation?
I'm confused.

The only time Yoga confuses me is when he talks. I really have a hard time following him.
