Last week I saw the dentist, and it was suggested that I get one of those purple anti-cavity rinses to use after I brush my teeth. I began using one every morning, starting about Thursday or Friday. I had a rather frightening problem Sunday morning. My lips, particularly my lower lip, were numb for all of the first Easter service and part of the second. I had to work twice as hard but produced half the sound. The corners of my mouth were getting very sore and tired, as they were doing all the work while my lips basically did nothing. About halfway through the second service, when it began wearing off, all of a sudden "the sound" started to return. I would not have noticed the previous couple of days that I used this, as my current schedule does not allow me to touch a horn in the early morning.

Has this ever happened to anyone else before? Are there certain brands or ingredients to avoid?

Doesn't sound normal. Stop using and call your dentist.

OK, here are the ingredients besides water, flavoring and coloring:
Sodium Fluoride
Sorbital Solution
Alcohol
Poloxamer 407 (??)
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
Phosphoric Acid
Dibasic Sodium Phosphate

Can any of these cause lip tissue issues?

You might have a sensitivity to the Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. I know my wife had to find soaps without that or Sodium Laureth Sulfate to make her hands stop cracking and bleeding. Just a thought.
