Question for iPhone/Smart Phone people

My phone still has buttons, and I'll have the "chance" to upgrade later this year.

I listen to a lot of AM radio, streamed over my computer. Can you stream radio stations on an iPhone/Smart Phone? It's just a plug in on a Web page... anyone tried this?

I'm 99% NOT getting an iPhone, but if it could play AM radio over the internets, that would be a selling point.

I'm an iPhone-a-holic.. so, take it for what it's worth!

You know the saying... "There's an App for that!"

Quite honestly, I can get more done that ever since buying the iPhone, as it's so powerful. Get your hands on an iPhone 4, and you'll be set for some time! AND able to listen to AM radio...

Oh yeah, and you'll never need another metronome, tuner, etc.. etc.. etc..

I have an iPhone and it is possible to listen to all sorts of radio including AM. I particularly enjoy being able to listen to the classical offerings of WFMT in Chitown over the internet via the iPhone (and on my computer at home.)

So, yes, you can hear streaming radio on iPhones. Pretty sure it's possible with all the othere smart phones.

Great news, thanks!

I'll probably wait until fall, just in case any good "re-up" deals come out by then -- plus real opinions by then about the iPhone 4 instead of hype and whining. :) I've tried the other iPhones, and they are cool...but not sure I like it more or less than anything else...

Recognize that AT&T is limiting data flow for new iPhone users, to something like 2 GB a month. With that limitation, you'll either need to live in a WiFi world or reserve your streamed listening to fairly brief periods.

Also, I find that AT&T's network is sufficiently poor so that streaming media would be the rare treat rather than the routine service.

I use the iPhone for a vast array of uses, and live with the poor AT&T service to do so. I do not, however, depend on high-speed internet access for most of what I do with an iPhone.

"Rumor has it" that iPhones will be available on Verison in the fall...

They're just teasing. That rumor previously said spring, 2010.

Yes, go out and get an iPhone 4! Just don't hold it with your left hand....

I would echo Rick's skepticism... but the Droids look very good, as well. The Android OS will do pretty much everything you want and Verizon offers unlimited data plans. Just sayin'

I've just moved from an iPhone 3gs to a droid phone (HTC Buzz) as I get the same plan but for £12 a month instead of £43!! I've deployed 6 iPhone 4's at work last week, they're nice but not worth the hype, or more importantly, price, compared to deals on other phones.

Since getting the Android I've never once felt the need to go back to mt 3gs, which has surprised me!

I have been a Verizon user for years, starting when AT&T decided to send my job to India. Even so, the iPhone was the only reason that I ever considered switching back. The Android operating system however has made such a switch unnecessary. I find that I can do anything that I want on a Droid, plus have a slide out keyboard that I don't miss the iPhone hype. On the other hand I have never been an apple fan, just because of their (read Steve Jobs') decision to keep their systems as proprietary as possible. Even with all the apps available for the iPhone and iPad they only way to develop for them is to buy their SDK. The Droid X that will be available by mid July looks to me to be everything the iPhone claims to be, maybe just not quite as sexy looking.

That said, there are still rumors about a Verizon version of the iPhone, but now they are saying early 2011. We will see. It certainly seems that it would be to Apple's benefit if it were made available.

There's a review on YouTube of the iPhone vs the Android here:
