Portrait work and sad story..

Post by bigbob »

GoodMorning Everybody When I was a tractor trailor driver a fellow worker asked me to do a portrait of his buddies.. He wanted a large portrait and he wanted it in Color I had done quite a few portraits for some of the other guys at work... With a black and white going for 100(price back in '79<s>) and a full size color one going for 300 5 times harder because I used a technique called layering with colored pencils and graphite pencils you put a layer of color then add fetures then spray with a workable fixative... This picture had at least 25 layers of colored pencils..... I finish the picture and put in a note at work to pick it up ...... Never answered me soooo caught him at work showed him the picture and said 300 dollares please... He looks at me and says GEEE I really don't have that much right now.. economies pretty slow ahhhhh let me take it home and see what the wife thinks 3 weeks later I see him he says I don't know I said look I'll give it to you for 200 and you all let me take it to a few shows and if I win prize money with it I keep it... Said he'd get back to me<s> Month later he says Oh my wife thinks it's tooooo big for our living room But we just might take it off your hands for a hundred..... I took the picture from him!! Left him a note a week later which in essence said Put your money where the Sun don't shine<s< That was 79 I still have the picture and he will never see his good buddies again!!but you will... Let me know what you think?....Sad but True..................BB
