Might those Chinese metal miniball links be from a company with the same name as a music conservatory in New York State?
My reason for asking is that I am having some work done to one of my horns, and I was going to have Du-Bro ball & socket put on horn but my repairman said he is getting metal miniball linkage from a company in China with the same name as this conservatory that is like a famous German company's miniball linkake at a fraction of the price of the German linkage, so I opted for the Chinese miniball linkage instead of Du-bor for my European horn. I hope this makes sense...

Not less expensive the Dubro, but pretty close to it--and having miniball linkage -IHHO might be better--his thoughts, not mine. Actually, I had suggested Dubro to replace the current old while plastic ball & socket linkage put on years back, he then he mentioned about the inexpensive miniball version--he said his cost on the actual German miniball from a famous German maker is now $37 per miniball-yipes!!!

So, what's the repair for the defective stop arm? I think the usual way to avoid paying 1st world prices for stuff like this linkage, is to buy the Chinese linkage, and then have it fixed.

If I know what company you're talking about (I really don't, I'm just taking a random very educated shot in the dark), you also can't get bell screws from them currently... They've been backordered for 4 months...

Use the Allied Universal (Conn) sousa bell screws. They fit and you don't have to tap out the threads.
