I used to have a "Baby George" countertop rotisserie cooker, and while not being huge it did an outstanding job on whatever it cooked. It is no longer in my possession and has been sorely missed for the past year (although its current owner has never used it and probably does not even know what to do with it.) These are no longer available, the only thing advertised seems to be the Ronco/Showtime junk that is over priced and does not appear to be very good quality. Any ideas for something compact and affordable? I figured when it comes to cooking meat, there is no better resource pool than the TNFJ.

I bet you could find something on craigslist. But remember, just because you can spell "rotisserie" doesn't mean everyone else can.

I think less money was paid to some of George Foreman's last opponents to throw their fights, than for this one. I was outbid on an earlier (used) one, which sold for a more reasonable $30.
I think the one I used to have was purchased as part of a combo with a large "grill" for about one hundred bucks, and was given to us as a gift.
Honestly, unlike the "showime," the GF is not a gimmick. It works really well for rotisserie cooking smaller things, such as a turkey breast or single chicken. I have NEVER had turkey as good as what I have made with it. "Dry" meat is a thing of the past.

I recommend taking the original unit back from its current owner...stealthily, of course. She'll never miss it.

Found a George Jr. on Craigslist about an hour away for $40. A little bigger than my (formerly my) Baby George, but not ridiculously sized, either. Girlfriend drove me out there AND paid for it, since she felt bad my Christmas present of a nearly-foot-thick Brookstone pillow was discontinued after three days of use due to neck cramping. Never underestimate the power of a redheaded alto.
