Makes me crazy, too! I DO get to play lots of different horns but there are still a few out there I would like to get my hands on for a few hours.

I have an idea, Wade... You set it up so all of us can meet at one place for a weekend. I'll bring a truckload and the rest of you guys can do the same. Say.... I think Bloke's retreat might be just the place for all of to meet. It's pretty centrally located and we can all pitch tents or bring motorhomes. There was some talk a while back about a Blockstock. This summer might be the time!

Blokestock! Yes! Last time this was brought up, it was decided once and for all how to measure tubas. The ones I could throw the farthest were 3/4, second farthest, 4/4 etc. Unless, of course, R. Denney can figure out a more exact measure which involves computers, sensors, charts and stuff.

I'm in.

This certainly sounds like a worthwhile idea.

Roughly the same size as my back yard. :P

When I lived in Baltimore, I used to go to the Army Band conference every year. Always fun, and always a great way to try lots and lots of stuff to help get ideas of what you like. Always on Friday, just way too many people on Saturday.

Also, I went to Baltimore Brass plenty of times -- I was born and raised about 2 or 3 miles from there, so it was WAY too convenient... I don't think I realized how lucky I was. Now, Dillon's is still only about 25 miles from me, but last time I drove there it took me about 1.5 hours to drive home. Maybe I'll take the train next time...

For the first few years of college, I didn't have a car, so I took the train to Dillon's plenty of times. Pretty convenient way to go, if you ask me. Except for the day I bought my 983....taking a crowded train back to New Brunswick juggling my new horn in it's hard case, and my new gig bag was a bit complicated. In that situation, I suggest driving. :-P

If there's too much stuff to carry on the train, UPS the soft stuff home. Costs a little but...
