That show should have been a whole lot better, looked unpolished and really, the Black Eyed Peas were just boring (too much standing still).

But, I guess I got what I paid for.

boring...................................I absolutely despise marching bands, even good ones. Even the Stanford band would have been an improvement over what I watched for about 2 minutes because my wife made me. I'm glad there was no wardrobe malfunction either. If one of those things had gotten loose it might have done serious damage.

I think people need to accept that the the times of "good" halftime shows are over. The talent pool is really shallow and the "good" ones are claiming retirement checks.

Well.... I simply don't do sports. I only watched the last two minutes of the Super Bowl.

In fact... I get sick and tired of even going to restaurants that insist on having big screens on so patrons can watch sports while they eat. I understand that this is probably the only way women can get their husbands out of the house but it really pisses me off to have to endure sports commentary while I try to carry on a descent conversation with my wife of friends. On a recent trip to Applebee's... I was seated in what appeared to be a 'family area' (not the bar where I would expect such an onslaught)... and had a football commentary blaring out of a speaker within a few feet of me although the screens were at opposite ends of the area about 20 or so feet away.

This sort of bombardment should be reserved for 'sports bars' and kept out of family dining places.

I don't have a TV in either the dining room or the bedroom!

At the two Applebees I sometimes go to, they have the volume muted or very low. Maybe it's a district thing, don't know. You can hear the audio in the bar area though.

I only watched part of the game. None of the haltime. I checked out the SSB, after the game(embarassing).
I get really tired of all the hype, to include the endless spewing of notes on the SSB.

From my experience at restaurants, the "in" thing is to have multiple TVs on, without sound. They usually blast music at the patrons. The typical song has one measure in it, performed over and over, until one almost prays he will lose his hearing. Conversation? How?

This may have been on of those 'special' nights when the Colts were playing. Evansville isn't noted for much but there always seems be quite a bit of enthusiasm for anything The Evansville Aces, IU, and of course, the Colts are doing.

Your answer lies 3.89 miles NE of downtown Newburgh on Indiana Street, "O'Charley's", once an Applebee's wannabe. I get two for $15 instead of $20 and I don't have to put up with the screens. Give 'em a try......and I don't own any stock.

Yup. I wrote O'Charley's off shortly after they opened. Too much emphasis on the bar... too darned many 'young adults'... and a menu too much like all the other chains in the area. I went back in there a couple of weeks ago with friends... at their suggestion that 'things had changed'. The four of us were ushered into a cramped booth in the bar area. No smoking now but the atmosphere and menu was still very uninteresting to me. The four of us had to yell at each other to carry on a descent conversation. That place is 'back off the list'.

I agree. The O'Charley's menu is limited, it is noisey(ours because of families who can't/don't control their small children) and it is crowded(due to the $15 for 2 specials I think). One block west of ours is a wonderful, quiet, cozy upscale chophouse with none of O'Charleys problems and a simply astounding menu. The service is impecible and the food regularly knocks the top off the scale. Sadly, at $100 a pop for two, it is a luxury for which we are hardly ever indulgent. Chilli's is still on my list but I have totally given up on Applebees and every time I go to O'Charleys I say to myself this is the last time. Ces't la vie.

We have a local joint called "The Knob Hill Tavern" in Downtown Newburgh. It's locally famous for its catfish 'fiddlers'. I'm not a big fan of fried fish but their chicken livers are out of sight. We hit it about twice a month. Our stand fare is to share a chicken liver dinner and each get a baked potato, a glass of merlot, and a water. ... about $28. No sports stuff and seldom any small children. If you make it to Newburgh someday I'll take your there. My treat!

Marching Bands??? Really??? That's the top vote??? I threw that in for a joke.

I completely believe that marching bands are a key part of the college football atmosphere. Without them you would lose a lot of what makes college football great. The NFL is another matter. It is a commercial professional sport that has very little to no marching band representation during the season. Like it or not, the NFL lends itself more to a popular music show.

No the half-time show wasn't missing marching bands. It would be like the Ben Rothlesburger showing up wearing a Pittsburgh Pirates uniform. There is nothing wrong with the uniform, but it doesn't fit the situation.

i think the half time show proved just how little music ability is actually required to be a popstar.

visually it was pretty cool, but musically....FAIL (and i am not talking aobut the microphone problems.)

I just don't understand who picks the groups, seriously the best they could get was the Black-Eyed Peas? I mean I am not up on all the latest pop music but seriously? Of course was it last year they had Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers? That was no better from a star quality stand point.
