I want to register a domain name, I've never had a website before but I want to build one now. So how do I begin?

There are several hosting companies. I use I-Power. 'bout $100 a year gets you pretty much unlimited bandwidth and storage. They have built-in web editing tools but I sill use Microsoft Office Front Page. I don't recommend Front Page since it is very limited and not supported any more. But... unless you want a bunch of 'whirley-twirly' stuff, it does a very reliable job of handling text edits and pictures.

Thanks TubaTinker,

Nowadays, it seems all things begin with Google, soooo, I'm googling and reading reviews and will go from there. Building a site doesn't seem to involve any HTML, like in the ancient cave man days of the 90's, now it's all GUI"s and drag and drop! Woooo eeee!!! piece of cake ( I hope ) 8)

I recently registered a domain name with GoDaddy and found a 30% off discount code online. A friend recommended BlueHost as a hosting company (~$100.00, unlimited bandwidth and storage, unlimited number of domains that can be hosted on your account). I've only ever used FrontPage to write/edit HTML, but since signing up, I've decided to try Joomla!, an open-source piece of software that doesn't require as much HTML knowledge. Joomla has a steep learning curve, but is straight forward and the more time I spend with it, the better I get. (BlueHost's servers have Joomla ready to install.)
