Does anyone know the prevailance or availability of university/college scholarships for double reed players?
Or if one has to be a music major to receive these scholarships?
Oboist in the family heading to college, wants to pursue pre-med and wonders if she might receive help financially by having outstanding oboe skills.

Re: double reed scholarships
Try going to college at a small liberal arts college. Many of them have smaller music departments, and will give a stipend if a promising academic can help out the department to fill out the performing ensemble. I was a political science major, with a view to law school, but I went and auditioned anyway and got a few hundred a year to play & sing in addition to my other undergraduate scholarships.
