I surfed into this story while researching for a paper due real soon. I thought it was important to share with my fellow tuba players.

This comes under the heading of "I'm just saying..."

A tuba player who doesn't drink beer? Does the Musician's Union know about this?

What next, news that being an alcoholic is bad for your health?
My wife and I LOVE beer, and the craft beer revolution that seems to have finally made it NYC. We have a couple of growlers, and will usually get one filled every week or every other week. LOTS of other good beer in the fridge.
That said... 3 beers per day, every day, for many years.... is a TON of beer to drink, and certainly an interference to normal life. Plus, I'd think that if you drink that much of most things (orange juice, soda, wine), it'd probably mess you up eventually too.

I just love stories and statistics like that. I wonder... is it the beer? .... or is it the crappy diet that goes along with the drinking?

For this guy, the beer *is* the diet:

Not to hijack, but really? Brooklyn Brewery makes some TASTY beer! They've been around for quite some time.

Brooklyn is good, yeah... but I was actually talking about an influx of small brewers distributing and selling here in the city now. As well as more (and better) beer-specific bars, craft beer festivals, grocery stores with better stocks/growler filling, and even a few drug stores that will fill growlers. What a time to be alive!
