Jaw Problem

Over time, say after I have played near 2 hours at school and later in the day I may have a lesson or will be practicing, I come across a problem when I am Mainly dealing with long tones. When I am sustaining a note for quite some time my Jaw will shake uncontrollably. Other than comfort and when I was doing an exercise with a teacher of intonation exercises and I had to adjust I couldn't adjust to match him I could not adjust without going all over the place with moving my embouchure to adjust. I don't know if there is anyone else out there with this problem though I would REALLY appreciate it if someone can help me fix this.

Do you warm-up thoroughly before you start to play... I would suggest you add 5-10 minutes of long-tones before and after you practice. Try them in a comfortable register.

Also, try to be aware of how much you are playing in you extreme registers. Are you spending excessive time in upper registers, lower registers. It might help to spread your practice out in order to balance the type of playing you are doing. i.e. After playing loud, high, very articulated music, move on to something slow, lyrical , and quiet.

Best of luck, and if you feel any strain that doesn't feel right, take a break and start up again after you are rested...

Thank you both for replying but I only found one thin that may be the actuall reason. Concerning bloke it would most defenitely be a fatigue reason, I don't get nervous during my lesson especially if I know the teacher well. The problem is I cannot figure out how I can control this other than taking a break and hoping it won't happen though even after not playing for over 5 hours in the day it will still happen.

I actually have about a 5 minuet breathing warm up everyday along with a 5 minuet warm up. I do play in my higher register a lot more than others though I do counteract it with pedal etudes near the end of my warm up.

As I said it does only really happen when I'm playing long tones but it's uncontrollable, uncomfortable, and is also disallowing me to work on changing my intonation when needed.

Another thing. When I practice at home it is for about an hour each day. I know to take at least one day off a week or just working on my pedal playing at a minimum on that day. It is really refreshing the next day when I play although th problem still comes about.
