It tells me something that this photo was taken in front of a McDonalds!schlepporello wrote:

Schlep,I'm trying to get in touch with person who did make pictures and get them posted. At the early AM defining moment I'm afraid I was tired along with my flute-playing bride and had my hands full of BBb Keefer Helicon and was not thinking of it being historical moment.schlepporello wrote:

Here are pictures of 7 helicons minus me and Keefer (brown Mule ) who was late for Photo opt. Also King helicon is on right of picture that I could't get in ----------I'll continue working. The two raw brass horns are made from Souz's--------the two players of latter mentioned horns are 20k players in NC State marching band

The girl in the red sweatshirt is the cutest Helicon player I've seen! Rounding up that many helicons in one place is a feat in itself. Maybe there should be a national helicon round up?

I'm surprised - I wondered what they were, because to me they looked like the only ones that couldn't have been made from sousaphones, without chopping a foot or so off the length of the "bugle." They do look like ordinary sousaphone bodies, but the bells look too short to me.Brown Mule wrote:The two raw brass horns are made from Souz's
(returns to edit post) ... Duh, now I see that foot or so of extra tubing dangling off the bottom in what is presumably the main tuning slide. Interesting - looks more comfortable, more compact and ought to be noticeably lighter.
