Brian, this is a good thing! No one that I've seen has claimed in the least that this solves everything...and I agree with that. But, this is symbolic and a good thing for our country. Those Navy Seals are some bad mf-ers!

Call me a skeptic, but I'm not buying this whole "We buried him at sea in accordance with Islamic tradition; trust us though: it was him" story. Surely they could've gotten some independent proof to show folks...

I haven't seen a picture of the body and the body was supposedly dumped at sea. Doesn't anyone else need more than a press release to believe this story. I would be more than happy to see this enemy of mankind dead and dumped in the sea but I would like some proof.

If it is true... don't you know the Nobel Peace Prize committee is proud.

Time to cut off ALL U.S. money/funding for Pakistan.....

Are we going to have another one of those aircraft carrier "war is over parties" Maybe at halftime during the UNC-Michigan game this fall . I understand they are going to play on one of the flat-tops this fall. Seriously , I have a gut feeling that his followers will see this exercise as a "ratch up the pressure on the west" call to arms---------------we'd better take a more frequent look over our shoulders!!!!!!! I found a link to a graphic picture of the dead bin Laden. I have doubts that this picture is real. bin Laden's beard was grayer in the videos I saw last night. The beard in this picture is more black. Also, the lips still have color, dead people's lips are blue or pale. It's so east to fake with photoshop, I'm still not 100% convinced.

I didn't want to post the link because the picture is so graphic. If you Image search Google "bin Laden dead" you can find one.

It was in the news this morning said picture was doctored.

If you ask me, and no one is, this is like believing in Santa Claus. No body...no pics....just people telling us he's dead and telling us to move along.

So what! This was just one POS. The ideology lives on. No further comment necessary.

Agreed. I also find the idea that any body celebrating the death of ANY human being (no matter how horrible) to be completely grotesque.

Last night on CNN they were interviewing some people gathered at the capitol. Some woman in her late 20's to early 30's was asked, " How do you feel?" She replied, "He's dead, we killed him! WHOOOOOOO!" This to me is just plain strange.

Besides, Dan is right, somebody else will just rise to his place and the cycle will continue. So so sad.

Remember, Bin Laden came from a VERY wealthy family and was able to finance projects--I don't think his supporters have that kind of money behind them...

Huh? is this to say, since BRSousa doesn't feel like celebrating this violent death, he must not be a Christian? Perhaps one of the faithful here could explain, I have never really understood the theology. But ironically, when I saw the front page pictures of people dancing around and celebrating, it reminded me of the pictures of celebrating Palestinians back when this all started; mostly Muslim, I suppose. I'm sure they'll have their turn again, in due time, and then ours again, etc., keeping the politicians and (non-pantheist) religious leaders in business indefinitely.

It's a good idea to kill him, don't mistake me, but this decade long project to kill a sick old man doesn't really solve our problems, nor is it much of a triumph.

Admittedly, my first reactions to all "news" stories are these:
1/ What are they trying to make me believe?
2/ Why are they trying to make me believe it?

I agree with you completely Bloke, but probably for 100% different reasons. Mostly I don't trust corporate media. In my opinion most of them are in the business of keeping regular people misinformed, scared or both.

Thankfully, I've got Cenk Uygur, and that's worth something. He hosts a great news program called the Young Turks. Pretty fair show.

All of the articles I have read on this topic stink. The "facts" don't quite add up.

However, it is getting to be re-election time.

I'm not saying OBL isn't dead. I'm not saying that the articles aren't at least partly true. They burial at sea just doesn't make any sense at all.
