Have you ever gotten to concert, practice, or gig and found you left mouthpiece, music, or valve oil at home?? (At least valve oil can be borrowed.) I now keep mouthpiece and valve oil in glove compartment of all my cars!!!( for several years now)

I once went to play an outdoor band concert. Upon playing my first note of warmup, it sounded like an elk. I then realized I had removed my main tuning slide at home to clean it, and had forgotten to put it back in. My mind raced as to what hoses I could remove from my engine that might do the trick. Reality set in quickly as I imagined myself playing the concert, but then not being able to get home. With no other solution, I reluctantly packed up and left (notably embarrassed.)

The worst was one time many years ago, the band librarian was away and gave me the music pads for the brass band to take to concert. I put in my garage and completely forgot, going off to the gig without. Someone asked me for the music when I arrived and I realised my dreadful mistake. I was half hour from home and the concert was due to begin in 40 minutes! I drove home at illegally high speed and got back 15 minutes after the concert had been due to begin keeping everyone waiting. I have never been so embarrassed

At our first gig this year, I brought the wrong folder. Good thing that there is another sousa player this year who brought the right folder.

I have mouthpieces stashed everywhere.

I wonder what I'll forget next....

Gave me an idea----------------Think I'll put a section of garden hose and some duct tape in all my cars. One other thing. Two times lately I've gone great distance for concert(SERTEC was one)----------I put a small spare tuba in the trunk in case I had a horn breakdown near concert time---anyone ever done this????

I played trumpet in Barber of Seville in 1954. I forgot the music, and the overture was to start in 30 minutes. I rocketed home, got the book, and entered the pit from the left just as the conductor entered from the right. We shared the audience's applause.

I forgot my tuba once...

Well, it wasn't quite that bad, I asked someone to put it onto the kit truck for me as I was turning up to the gig at the last minute and he forgot.

I still did the gig, but I had to break several of the laws of physics (as well as the speed limit) to get back in time!
