Dear All,

I am curious who else is using a cloud based site to store and move data? Or for whatever other purpose, but mainly in their working enviroment?

Good and bad experiences welcome....

As soon as iOS5 is ready in the Fall, I'll be using it on the iPhone, iPad, & iTouch...

Yep. Virtualised servers, Google Apps, Virtual Learning Environments, Dropbox. A mix of all.

I have heard this from a few people...I guess we just wait...

I have been using Humyo for the last couple of years to back up all my data and to keep my desktop and netbook data synchronised. I currently have near 100Gb on the cloud.

It generally works well and I like the fact that Humyo automatically retains file versions and recycle bin of deleted files - a facility I have used on a few occasions to get back what I no longer have on the PC.

For added security, my most confidential files are also in encrypted and password protected containers.

Yes, an iPhone 3GS will run iOs5 cloud (but NOT an iPhone 3g!)----also OK will be 3rd & 4th generation iPad Touches, iPhone 4, & iPad original & iPad2.

Dropbox works extremely well for simple tasks- I can share files much larger than most email clients will allow you to send by dragging and dropping, copying a link and pasting it to an email, IM or whatever. It's simple, free, and works well. And (of course) you have access to it via their website, your desktop application, or smartphone app.

BTW the new iOS beta is SAWEEEEEEEET. I downloaded an album the other day at a stoplight around the corner from my house. By the time I got upstairs, it was on my iMac and iPad.

I use some; but I do not rely on it alone. As an example, it would be foolish to use an online backup service and not also backup important files locally. And, no matter how trustworthy the online backup service, you still have to access it through the telephone or cable company of your choice. Do you trust them?
