Chuck Daellenbach did get Yamaha to fabricate a Carbon Fiber bell... I wouldn't think that gold-plating a horn would be complicated...

I have a couple questions here .....

I know that way back in the 70's the group had gold plated instruments. It was mentioned on one of their album covers. Have all of the instruments made for them been gold plated includeing the ones they use today or was it just done for a few sets of horns?
Did any instrument maker make a retail line of gold plated CB horns for sale to the public? I may be mis-reading the way bloke phrased his reply on this one .

To the snarky reply by kiltie tuba .... No Mr.wise *** , I can't prove that it isn't a real gold plated CB horn. I can't prove that it is one either . I'm a skeptic. Come one ..... what are the realisitc chances that this is an authentic Canadian Brass owned and use by gold plated Yahama euphonium. If there were only one of these made and it's really gold plated it's worth way more than $4,000 . I notice that with only 1 hour left to bid on it it still has no bidders. Either no one else believes its a real CB gold plated horn or noon has the cash to buy it .

The burden of proof is on the seller to show it IS something, not on a prospective buyer to prove is ISN'T something.

The horn did not sell and has been relisted at a bit lower price . I noticed the seller had a ebay store and I went to have a look. He has listed in his store a Yamaha trumpet (Xeno model),cornet, flugel horn and a piccolo trumpet which are all supposedly gold plated and were formerly owned by the Canadian Brass . I am even more skeptical, despite his 100% feedback rating .

After all, it makes sense that Yamaha and dealers would be getting rid of these horns anyways as the CB is no longer with Yamaha...
FWIW, the prices are just a bit over "usual" eBay prices but not too steep...

Hello folks. I am a big boy who can admit when he is wrong ...... and I am. I sent a email to the Canadian Brass about that horn and got this reply:

Hi!

I did not have luck with the link you provided but we do have a YEP 642
that is on EBay right now.

Best,

Mike

I disagree Ken. I think it has more to do with this shitty economy. I think there was a time when that euph. would have been bought as a collectors item and not so much as a great horn that someone wants to play. I know I would . Even thought I know I have the money in savings,401K etc to buy it I'm not going to because I don't know when I might loose my job. Many others are doing the same .
Take a good look at all those other auctions on ebay for " euphonium". There aren't too many bids out there on all those items.
