It's big. It's hot. It's cold. It's got good weather. It's got bad weather. Aside from the fact that Ann Richards lives there, I guess it isn't too bad.

Don't know, but I'm going to visit my fiancé's family in San Antonio for Christmas, so I guess I'll find out!

The odds are in favor of you liking the weather. There are some really nice things about San Antonio. Although our city council seems hellbent on making us a "world-class city," I believe most of us prefer that we keep the good qualities we already have.

As to the larger issue of what's to like about Texas. Having lived in Texas most of my life, I would have to say it is mostly the people. Also, to a lesser extent, the government. Don't get me wrong, like all governments, it is far from perfect. And, lastly, since I prefer warmer climates, I would have to say the weather is a positive. Of course, one must understand that summers can be rather brutal. This past summer we had an unbelievable number of 100 degree plus days. But for the most part winters are quite mild. It is sometimes possible to almost ignore that it is winter. For instance--golf. It is often possible to play golf all but a few days during the winter.

Now, for the most important message concerning Texas(to anyone contemplating moving here): Texas is a terrible place to live. You will NOT like it. Stay away! Don't come down here with your crazy political ideas. We don't need no stinkin' stupid political ideas. We still believe in things like personal responsibility and freedom. (Well, pay no attention to the Ft. Worth school district.)

Lastly, TMurphy, if you are going to be in San Antonio on 12/17, come join us for our 33rd Annual TubaMeister Christmas. It takes place on the beautiful San Antonio Riverwalk(one of the places you should visit while you're here).

Big Bend. UT-Austin. Galveston beaches.

I absolutely would love to, but we're not getting in until mid-day on Christmas Eve, and flying out early in the morning on New Year's Eve.

I thought the Texans had figured out the pig thing, just let them run around wild. And since everyone has a gun at all times, it's just a matter of keeping an eye out for one when the freezer is getting empty.
