What is it about the Bydlo solo that brings out the professional wrestler in tuba players?
It seems to me like every time someone brings it up, the boasting starts. It always sounds like, "I don't see what all you slackers are complaining about. I can play the Bydlo solo on my triple Bb naked lady Conn 2000J subcontrabass tooterphone and I can do it three octaves above to boot."
I'm not trying to slam anyone , but what gives? Any theories?

BTW...I'm just ranting. Its all in good fun. No flames please.

That is no challenge. Try the same with a T-mobile phone, punk.

Ah, but could you play it on one of these?

Maybe the "Swedish" sound:

To the one person who was actually discussing the topic.. :)

The solo was originally scored for a French Tuba. No one uses this instrument today, but the closest instrument to it is the modern euphonium. It was not meant to be played on tuba--C, Bb, Eb, or F...

It can be done, sure, but I mostly hear it botched all to heck and back, and just about every G# cacked.

Sorry, Chuck, but bass trombone is almost never used to cover the Bydlo solo.
