I dumped it all. I watch broadcast news, national and local, and PBS, including the Create subchannel. One of my local channels has its own weather subchannel, and my wife watches the occasional show on one of the "alternate" channels. Hulu and some of the other free internet sites have some great shows on reruns/syndication. I pay $0 subscription fees for the little TV I watch. As far as movies, we occasionally spend $1.25 for a RedBox movie, as I don't subscribe to any of those services or subscriptions, either.

Sounds like a reasonable idea to me. I have been without traditional cable/satellite for over a year now. I find that, for the TV I watch, Netflix streaming is plenty. I am using my Wii in the living room and a Roku box in the bedroom. I think you can only use one at a time with a traditional subscription, though I haven't tried.

Yep. I dumped cable when I moved to a new place last February. I pay for a Netflix subscription and find everything else I want to watch for free on Hulu or other related sites.

For a year the wife and I payed for Netflix and were able to get 2 of the local networks so we could keep up on the news. When we moved to Fargo this past summer our lease included free basic cable (13 channels) for the first 12 months. Nothing for me to get excited about on TV so when the free 12 months is up we'll probably go back to Netflix and the digital antenna rather than pay outrageous amounts for a bunch of channels we don't' watch.

What about baseball games? How would I watch them?

The plot lines for every sit-com that ever has been.

MLB TV on the computer +/- $100 per season for top package--You can watch up to 4 games at once (I forget how many I had going simultaneously as the 2011 season played out on the last 2 days). On my 22" monitor and HD, the pic is great. Also includes radio broadcasts. Only thing to watch out for is blackout of local home games. In Indianapolis, HOME telecasts of Cubs, Sox, and Reds are blacked out. No blackouts on radio. I connect via wireless router without problems at home, even nicer at work with wired connection to router.
MLB At Bat for a smartphone. I have it on the iPhone. Looking forward to higher-res images on the 4S. Requires subscription to MLB TV plus +/-$15 for the phone app. Same home-team blackout rules apply. Also includes radio. Works great on Wi-Fi, still ok on 3G.
This is the main reason I have not dumped cable. Yankees games would be entirely blacked out for me, and that would me a major problem for me. Were I ever to move out of the area, I might consider it.
