I work on commercial dishwashers and having a very bright light to use is very important to me. This is the Nextorch 2AA flashight. Brightest dang light I've ever seen and the batteries last much longer than any others that are as bright. The spec.s on it say 100 minutes of battery time at full power. I've been using mine for 3 months now with well over 100 minutes
of use on it and the the batteries are still good.
It is superbright, cost under $25.00 and has 4 modes that can be programmed. The only thing it is missing is being complelety waterproof. It is water resistant though. That seems to be enough.
manufacturer wrote:advanced "Smart Torch Technology (STT)" enables you to program unlimited modes for your flashlight. To personalize the modes however and whatever way you prefer, simply use the NEXTUNER; application included for your computer.
It's after 10 AM and I don't believe I've made any curmudgeon points yet today, so ... I have to point out that the flashlights I have used all my life have completely satisfied my flashlight needs with two modes: "on" and "off". The last flashlight I bought appears to have the ability to blink and do other stunts, but for these unneeded functions I seem to have traded some reliability - as soon as I point it at something I need to see, it starts trying to impress me with effects other than "on". Next flashlight I'm looking for something made in the 1st world that will be able to get what job satisfaction it needs with just on or off.
Don, I don't know what's so curmudgeon about your statement. It's very matter of fact. For most people on and off is all the mode they need.I think these programmable features weren't intended for the average users. These new fangled ultra bright lights can really use up batteries. I like being able to switch to a 1/2 power mode when I don't need the meagbright mode. It saves me on those uber expensive "AA" batteries. I also use the "strobe"mode for looking down the insides of a 44" dishmachine while trying to loook past the fina lrinse spray. It works really well for that. I also use this light for walking my dog every night and when I go camping. I don't always want it to be super bright. Sometimes just a little is enough.
My son bought this for me at a store that sells tactical equipment to law enformenct and military types. I suspect these programmable funtions were really meant for them.
Besides ...... I love gadgets.
Don, I would like to know if that flashlight you re talking about is a Maglight LED mini. I have 2 of them and had the same problem you described with them both . After a while they won't turn on reliably . I usually have to tap it a little. So dissapointed in that aspect of them.
Flashlights have been a huge part of my life for the last 26.5 years. I love my Maglight rechargable 3 cell. Really bright. I have since developed a need for a smaller light that is with me all the time. My Stinger charger died, and I think that this light might do the trick. Thanks, OBN.
No. You can't hold this in your mouth while you work. Although I wish I could often. It would be helpful. I saw somewhere a cushion thing you can put on the end of a Maglite just so you can hold in in your teeth. I did a quick google search and did not find. I thought it was sold by Niteize. Have you considered getting on of those forehead lamps?
Bearphonium ... you are welcome. This does not come with a holster clip if you need one. Niteize makes a good heavy duty one that will fit it well . I have used it for my Mini Maglights and now for this one.
I have had good luck with headbands for a mini maglite instead of holding them in my teeth. They take a little getting used to but I found it pretty intuitive.
Nite Ize ..... I really like that company. I like gadgets and they have plenty of them. I use their universal flashlight holster because of the super heavy duty belt clip it comes with. I also bought the dog collar light http://www.niteize.com/collections/pets ... llar-light" target="_blank" target="_blank because in the winter It's usually dark by the time I get around to walking the dog . I can let him run in the field behind my house at night and not lose sight of him.
Captain Sousie ... I just might have to invest in one of those expensive headbands. It looks well made and rugged and worth the $25.00 .
When I lived in Nebraska I worked security and we did some armed drops and pickups of money. I'm not law enforcement, and my working this job can best be equated to helping out a friend to survive college (I even lived in my Professor's back yard at the time, no joke!)....
That said, I fell in love with these bad boys!
The new MagLite LED lines are amazing. I have the 3D LED version. It is built like a tank, waterproof, comes with a spare LED bulb in the screw on end cap, and is blindingly bright.
Can you hols this flashlight between your teeth and work with both hands?
I just bought a couple of small, bright,LED flashlights at Lowes with plastic casings to use like this.
Aluminum Maglights are not good for this use.
The ones I bought are better, but not perfect.
Check out Duluth Trading Company. The hat clip led light works great for this stuff, even if you don't have a hat, you can clip it on your shirt instead of in your mouth. Coolmaterial.com is also a good source for these.
