Oh yeah! We have a local restaurant chain (Rafferty's... yes, Bloke... the same as in Clarksville) that makes killer "Hoppin' John" soup. That should do nicely in place of black-eyed peas!

Sounds like I should resolve to spend new years day in the places with more interesting food, I didn't even know there were Jan 1st traditions..... cabbage? I thought it was just the ulcer food.......Peace. ASG

I remember goint to the Shoney's Breakfast Buffet in College on a Sunday if we could get up early enough. The secret to making everything taste good was covering it up with that sawmill gravy.

I think I have acid reflux just from remembering that joint...

I won't live anywhere that I cain't git grits.

1. Sometimes, the best briskit is the one cooked by yourself at the pit you made in your own back yard.

2. We had freshly killed deer for new year's. (Yes, I killed it, and i'm not ashamed).

3. You can have all the peas you want, including mine. That gives me more room for deer meat or briskit.

4. Grits is guud eatin.

I never had the grits, but I did try his Cincinatti Chili. That stuff is just plain nasty. Cinnamon does NOT belong in chili.

Scott is a southerner so ya gotta forgive some of his disorders.

BTW, he is going to be playing on the College Teachers' Recital at the TUSAB tubaeuph conference this month.

I just received my 2006 calendar in the mail! I never throw away calendars like this. In 2002 (I think it was 2002) I used a 1945 wall calendar for my office. Of course, I didn't mark it. I used another one to mark dates. But, if I remember correctly, 1945 looked exactly like 2002. January 1 and December 31 were the same. All I have to do now is wait for a year that looks like 2006!
