I completely agree with you, Bloke. It seems that the Hokey Pokey and the Chicken Dance are simply easy targets. We all know there are many other tunes which are simply overplayed.

And, yes, Sean, I have seen the obits many times before. Even here on TubeNet.

Wow, and I just recently recorded a version of the Hokey-Pokey for Lion's Gate and was wondering who originally wrote it. Well, that's what it's all about.

The one I got the sickest of the fastest was "I love New York" which was a composing contest back in 1982 or so. I was playing in Albany Symphony for the world premiere, which was outdoors; I remember one of the violins was wearing a fur coat.
